Spray relaunched

Spray was relaunched at Glasson Marina on Fri 25th July, nearly 130 years after she was built in 1896.

There has been a lot of hard physical work by volunteers over the last 17 month since we acquired Spray. The paint was stripped back to wood so could see what condition it was in. An area of planking close to the bows was replaced by Matt Foot from Bay Boat Works. Matt is making a new bowsprit as the old one had rot in it. He has repaired the gaff. The boat has been completely repainted, engine serviced and electrics overhauled.

The next stage is to complete the rigging before bravely venturing out of the Dock on sea trials so we can get use to sailing her. We plan mooring her at Morecambe in 2026.

We would like to thank all volunteers who have worked on Spray and everyone who has donated to the project, Matt Foot from Bay Boat Works for his advice and for doing the repairs that would have been beyond the skills of our volunteers and staff from Glasson Marina for launching the boat for us..
